13 Excellent Quotes from the World’s Dreamers – Past & Present
By: David Brim January 21, 2013
The world that we live in today was shaped by the dreamers of yesterday. Today, being Martin Luther King day, led me to reflect on the power that dreamers have to make this world a better place. All of the great innovations and monumental changes across any industry, or Nation were first mere ideas in someone’s mind. Through passion, dedication, proper planning, hard work, and momentum from others, these ideas manifested into the enhanced World that we live in today. Where there is movement there is change, and where there is change there are opportunities. Opportunities for growth, innovation and progress whether we are talking about within a company, industry or society. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr is a shining example of this, but this can also be seen by many other dreamers, both past and present.
Quotes from the World’s Dreamers
I’ve taken some time to organize some excellent quotes from the World’s dreamers that have inspired me. I hope that you find them as inspirational as I do.
Robert F. Kennedy
There are those who look at things the way they are, and ask why… I dream of things that never were, and ask why not?
The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.
I’m a dreamer. I have to dream and reach for the stars, and if I miss a star then I grab a handful of clouds.
Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say I’m a dreamer, but I’m not the only one. I hope someday you’ll join us, and the world will be as one.
Ralph Waldo Emerson
The invariable mark of a dream is to see it come true.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
A man, whilst he is dreaming, believes in his dream; he is undeceived only when he is awakened from his slumber.
Henry David Thoreau
Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined.
Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen, others make it happen.
Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.
The key to realizing a dream is to focus not on success but significance – and then even the small steps and little victories along your path will take on greater meaning.
Martin Luther King
I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.
All of these dreamers are truly an inspiration, not only for what they each have accomplished, but for the great inspiration they will continue to be to the generations of dreamers that will follow them. By pursuing your dreams and seeing them into existence you not only make the world a better place, but also inspire others to do the same.

Rich DeVos & Jay Van Andel, for helping folks realize the potential within them and helping them live a positive life.
@KP…both of them were extremely successful and through their work helped many others live their dreams as well. Thanks for commenting

I loved that first quote. This post is an ode to all us struggling social entrepreneurs and start ups.
I had a pretty bad day as a ‘dreamer’ and sometimes it gets all too much, But then you read about Steve Jobs and Robert F. Kennedy (RIP) quotes and think: “Thank goodness that type of thinking is one, where I suddenly feel less all alone.”
Good post. Well done David.
The world is always in need of more dreamers! Here’s another one of my favorites:
“Surround yourself with the dreamers and the doers, the believers and thinkers, but most of all, surround yourself with those who see the greatness within you, even when you don’t see it yourself.” ― Edmund Lee
Thanks for sharing! That is a good one 🙂
